Is Transformational Coaching Right for Me? 5 Types of People Who Thrive With This Work. (Part 5)

Transformational coaching is a specific type of coaching that works on the inner world: emotions, thoughts, feelings, beliefs, worldview, etc. Some people still don’t know if it’s for them, though. Let’s dive into some of the people that often seek out transformational coaching!

Check out the previous blog posts to learn more about transformational coaching, life coaching, and the differences with therapy!

Transformational coaching: In a nutshell

Generally, transformational coaching is good for anyone who wants to make big changes in their lives. They want to go deep. Maybe they don’t know how to do that. They are unsatisfied, craving change, and/or wanting someone to help them dig deep and plan to do that.

The types of people I coach are the ones who know they need to change, have probably tried to change on their own, but are still stuck in negative, perhaps deep-rooted patterns. They’re shifting from survival patterns to thriving patterns, from lack to abundance, (re)connecting with inner selves to create a life that better suits them. They want to live with clarity, confidence, courage, compassion, and creativity, instead of fear, addiction, self-suppression, or isolation. They need the information and guidance to do just that.

Now, this is NOT AN EXHAUSTIVE LIST. Just some examples of people who may need some coaching support! I’ll probably be making more blog posts in the future with more types of people/problems that seek out transformational coaching!

1. Cycle-Breakers & Pattern-Shifters

Addiction. Rage. Shame. Numbing. Toxic dynamics.

You might be:

  • Stuck in painful cycles and negative patterns - no matter how much you try to be different

  • Fighting to change deep-rooted behaviors like self-abandonment, emotional shutdown, lashing out, toxic relationships, or numbing — but keep getting pulled back in.

  • Aware that you're repeating family or generational patterns and you’re determined to be the one who stops it.

You might want:

  • To understand your survival patterns, not shame them

  • To move from “I know what I should do but...” to “I know what I need to do, and I feel like I can do it.”

  • Longing for a life that feels real, safe, and self-honoring— not just functional

2. Emotionally Overwhelmed High-Achievers / Deep Feeler

You’ve spent your life adjusting, shrinking, or performing for others' comfort. Constantly overwhelmed, shaped by environments (or inner voices) that taught you to disconnect. You’ve been told you’re too much, too emotional, too intense — or somehow not enough.

You might be:

  • High-functioning on the outside, but shut down or in survival mode on the inside

  • Numbing out with food, work, screens, or perfectionism

  • Caught in shame spirals when life overwhelms you

  • Feeling like your feelings are “too much” — or “not allowed”

You might want:

  • To stop performing and start feeling

  • To live authentically without the need to dull yourself down

  • Not just cope, but live

3. Hopelessness, loss, and directionless

You’re in a low place, perhaps the lowest of your life. You may have read the books, listened to the podcasts, and journaled through the hard days. But something still needs to change.

You might be…

  • Struggling with survival patterns or constant emotional chaos.

  • Feeling like you’ve hit a wall — like there’s nowhere left to turn

  • Living in a fog of hopelessness, grief, or confusion

You might want…

  • To desire something again, to feel real, alive, and happy.

  • To finally get to the root of what keeps pulling you back into pain

 4. Sensitive Souls in Transition

You’re in a threshold space — the old life no longer fits, and the new one hasn’t arrived yet.

You might be…

  • Coming out of a toxic relationship, burnout, or identity crisis

  • Feeling like your sensitivity has intensified

  • Emotionally raw and unsure how to move forward

  • Outgrowing old roles — even though they once kept you safe

You might want:

  • To feel grounded in the unknown

  • To trust your sensitivity as a gift, not a burden

  • To reconnect to your body and your intuition

 5. Spiritual Seekers Who Want to Ground Their Energy

You’ve done the spiritual work — but it still feels like something’s missing.

You might be…

  • Feeling split between insight and real-life change

  • Tired of spiritual bypassing — or wondering if that’s what you’ve been doing

  • Caught in confusing cyles that you feel have deeper meaning, but don’t know what that is or how to change

  • Confused about what spiritual work actually means, and how it applies to you

  • Have tried therapy, read the books, heard the perspectives… but still feel like you haven’t made the shifts you want

You may want…

  • To do deep shadow work on yourself.

  • To feel safe in your body and your beliefs

  • To bring your spiritual growth into your relationships, boundaries, and overall life.
